Marcus Aurelius – Stoic Mastermind

Give yourself a gift: the present moment.

Marcus Aurelius wrote this nearly 2000 years ago in his “bible of the stoics” book “Meditations”.

Stoic principles

Being stoic means more than just staying calm in the face of a storm. Some central tenets for life are:

  • Live in harmony with nature.
  • You cannot influence all events, but you can influence your reactions to them.
  • Know your principles and always act on them.
  • Don’t let things get you down that are out of your control.
  • Don’t bow to the chatter of the masses. Don’t push yourself to the fore.
  • Be aware of your death – and make use of this awareness in life.

to meet reason with a smile…

  • to look behind the appearance to the inside…
  • not to forget the search behind what has been found…
  • to stand firm in the light of darkness…
  • to search for clues in the inexplicable…
  • to be able to see yourself with the eye of the other
